Organ Fanzine (UK):

STIMULATOR - Total utter pop, total utter unashamed horny hedonistic new wave LA lip-gloss fluorescent leg warmer pop from Susan Hyatt and her new band Stimulator. Cutting enough edge to get them turning heads on the West Coast leg of this year’s US Warped tour. Susan has escaped London and gone back to the USA, she doesn’t sound so angry now - is that what getting out of London does for you? It’s a little lazy to just say it’s a Garbage thing - but that does give you a vague idea, Garbage, No Doubt, Blondie, Polysic - but hey, no cheapskate copy, Stimulator do it their own way with their own finger print and those were just vague reference points to help you dance around the architecture once more.

The only thing that will keep Susan happy now is more more more, she’s no trophy - ah yes, it’s always a little more complicated with Susan - good, that’s the only way she could get away with this latest move. Geoff Tyson (Snake River Conspiracy) is Susan’s co-conspirator this time around. Some of it’s still a little dark if you look under the skin - good, some of it’s brilliantly bouncy in a most positively retro pop kind of way. 78 Stimulator is perfect perfect total pop, nearly every track sounds like a good single, My Beautiful Muse is just that - beautiful… and if there’s going to be Saturday morning glossy pop then let’s have it real and clever and with an edge like this and with just that little more when you dig deeper please….. looking good in the pillbox, nah, it’s nothing like Garbage - Garbage were never this good/real/honest. Just how pop should be.
